My school's network loves Xbox live. I have no problems connecting to it whatsoever. In fact, just yesterday my computer would not connect to the internet wirelessly or through ethernet connection yet, when I stick the ethernet into my 360 it works fine. Today I try and get online with my PS3 and it won't connect for shit. Well that's a lie, after 10 minutes of trying to sign in to the PSN it worked. I booted up killzone 2 tried to get online with it. Waited a good 10 minutes through all that crap only to get a "you have been disconnected from the network." Bleh. I'm not going to truly experience online with my PS3 until I go home so it seems...
